This term our topic is ‘Picnics and Parties!’ and we are hopeful that this is exactly what we will be enjoying for the next seven weeks!
Some of our older children are leaving us for school at the end of the term and we are so very proud of them. We are in the process of arranging visits with their new teachers. Please keep an eye out for dates from your new schools as to when they are inviting you to visit them there. At Rainbow we shall continue with our fun ‘School Group Time’ sessions for the older children where we set them tasks, enjoy games and help them to be prepared for school.
On this note if your child has their school uniform, book bag or anything at all school related that they would like to bring in and show us we would be delighted- it’s a lovely way for us to help prepare them and share their thoughts.
Last year we enjoyed sharing some picnics with the residents at Westgate House and they haven’t forgotten! So we will be repeating this whenever the weather suits and we have the time! We will also be going out for walks and maybe enjoying key group picnics together too. Of course, we are also going be offering hot dinners again this term on Thursdays for 3 weeks, please see the sign up poster and Tapestry memo for more details.
In our garden we shall be searching for minibeasts and learning all about them. We will have big conversations and thoughts about where these minibeasts live and what they do. Colours, patterns and symmetry will be all covered as we move through the topic. We will be building bug hotels, setting up a restaurant or café for the butterflies and bees and in doing so making our garden areas a splendid place for everyone to enjoy.
We are super excited to be taking part in Wallingford Carnival this month!! More information regarding this was sent last term including a sign up form if you would like to help us prep for this or join us on the day. We love being part of Wallingford’s community.
With the lovely summer weather arriving please do make sure your child has a good layer of sun cream on and appropriate clothes. (We do top up on sun cream applications in the afternoon for the children who are with us all day- please refer to our sun cream policy for more information). We do of course keep children in the shade and provide extra drinks and calming down periods on hot days.
There will be sensory and visually stimulating small world set ups for the children to enjoy and plenty of games all ready and waiting.
There will be lots of water play, baking, singing and of course we will make time for Forest School, Westgate House visits and perhaps a library visit too.
It’s going to be so much fun….!
